About

Although born and raised in Amsterdam, Holland, (and still very fond of that city!) I haven’t spent much time there for the last two decades. In 1997 I set up base in Honduras (Central America) where I founded Copán Pinta (later Arte Acción Copán Ruinas), a cultural association that offered workshops in different artistic disciplines to children and adolescents in and around Copán.

In 2014 I relocated to Guatemala where I started a community art project called MuralArte Guate, with the objective to create collaborative murals in public spaces.

A few years back I made the move back to Europe and found my new home in Asturias, in the north of Spain. But Central America keeps pulling me back, so now my routine is to spend part of the year in Guatemala to paint murals and teach art classes, very much living the best of two lives.

In all these years I’ve never stopped painting. Whether it's portraits, walls, miniatures, furniture, I paint anything that'll hold a lick of paint…
